Grillfest 2017

The first Lanson Grill Fest hit the ancient capital of Cornwall in 2015 to celebrate US-style low ’n’ slow BBQ and grilling, craft beer and Americana, this was expanded on in 2016 and we’re looking forward to making 2017’s the biggest event yet.

Enjoy high quality, locally sourced meat cooked over ethically sourced wood and charcoal by some of the region’s top BBQ chefs. Eat your fill at the BBQ hot street food stands and check out the smoking and grilling demos and professional BBQ equipment.

A craft beer and cider tent will run alongside a cocktail and coffee bar, food and craft stalls, showcasing some of the best local breweries and produce.

Chill in the square with a pint in your hand, listening to live music. Jugglers and street acts will excite all ages, or get creative with a street art display and workshops.

Best of all, entry is free!

Also featured is a brand new type of burger and hot dog for us, the ‘Gringo’, which is a burger or hot dog topped in spicy beef chilli and melted Cornish cheddar.

Happy birthday to us

The Firebrand Team L-R Alex Eddie Joe

Today marks a year since we opened our doors to the public. We were fully booked then and we’re fully booked tonight so we’d like to say a big thank you to all the people of Launceston and beyond who keep coming in for food, drinks and takeaway!

In our first year we’ve been nominated for two awards and continued to evolve from an American-industrial smokehouse into a trailblazing leader of the new Cornish BBQ scene. Our events and free festivals have helped turn Launceston into Cornwall’s newest foodie destination and we’ve secured rave reviews from top food bloggers. We’re attracting craft beer lovers from miles around too, offering the best selection in North Cornwall.

Meat Plate 2

We’re not resting on our laurels though. Our chefs love the food they cook and they’re always experimenting with new dishes for the specials board, with the most popular ending up as permanent fixtures on the main menu.

If you’ve got ideas for making Firebrand Bar & Restaurant even better then please get in touch. We always want to hear your feedback!

Launceston Food and Rink Festival

Food and Rink Festival

Launceston Chamber of Commerce has come up with the pretty cool idea of putting an ice skating rink in the town square and serving up some great local food and drink alongside it. We’re really pleased to be involved in Launceston’s newest festival, bringing you the best Cornish BBQ and Cornish craft beers from Firebrand Brewing Co and Penpont Brewery.

…hazard and Bek Design are taking bookings for the skating sessions and peak times are already filling up fast. It’s the first time this area has had an ice rink so people are already booking in from Holsworthy, Bude and further afield. Give them a ring on the numbers on the poster if you can’t get in to town. There’s no compulsion to skate though. If you’d rather get into the spirit by laughing into your pint and pulled pork as you watch people crash into each other and fall on their arses then we’ve got you covered.

Firebrand Brewing Co’s vegan Cornish craft beer bottles available now

If you’ve ever popped in for a drink, you’ll know we’ve always got Firebrand Brewing Co’s Cornish craft beers on keg or cask alongside a range of others from around the UK and beyond.

You’ve been asking us to get the vegan-friendly bottled versions in too, so we’ve done just that. You can now enjoy Graffiti IPA, Cross Pacific Pale Ale, Rye PA, Black Saison and Double IPA any night of the week at just £2.50 per bottle or five for £10.

If you’ve yet to try them, check out this independent review.

Our bar is open from 5pm to 11pm daily. It contains the largest selection of craft beers in North Cornwall, with eight keg lines, four cask and dozens of bottles.

Oktoberfest 2015 runs all week

Our first Oktoberfest celebration kicked off this evening with a week-long festival of German beer, food, music and fancy dress.

Pints start at £2.50 and there’s a range of German drinks alongside British beers and ciders:

Firebrand Brewing Co – Oktoberfest
Erdinger – Weissbrau
Erdinger – Oktoberfest
Hofbräuhaus München – Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier
Hofbräuhaus München – Dunkel
Dortmunder Union-Brauerei – Vier
Cornish Orchards – Cornish Gold
Penpont Brewery – Cornish Arvor
Countryman Cider – Farm Scrumpy Medium Cider
Great Heck Brewery – Citra

And of course there are loads of bottles to sample if you make your way through that lot.

The food’s looking great too, with tonight’s specials a mixture of German, American and British influences. The The German Drinking Plate of homemade pickles, smoked and pickled Hunter’s sausage, chutney and dark rye bread goes particularly well with German lagers.

Our front of house team have got into the spirit of things so feel free to join in if you enjoy a bit of fancy dress! Oktoberfest is on until Sunday, October 4th.

Rockabilly party sends off the summer in style

We definitely made the most of the final days of summer with our Rockabilly End of Summer Party in the town square.

We wanted to do something a bit different to round things off so we settled on a 1950s rockabilly theme in recognition of the influence it’s had on the style of food Firebrand has grown from, resulting in Cornish BBQ.

As ever we wanted the event to bring whole families together. Toddlers and children played with giant Jenga and noughts and crosses as their parents enjoyed drinks from Firebrand Brewing Co, Penpont Brewery and Clio’s Van du Vin. Our own chefs cooked up a mouth-watering combination of 1950s food and Cornish BBQ made from quality local ingredients.

Bude Jive Club showed the crowds how to dance and live music from rockabilly bands Los Limpos and Delta 88 provided the opportunity to put their new knowledge into practice.

Although that’s the last of the summer festivals in the square, we’ve got loads more events coming throughout the rest of the year. You can subscribe to get Facebook notifications as they’re added. We’re screening free films for kids and adults on Sundays and our week-long Oktoberfest beer festival kicks off today in the restaurant.
